It started in the water. Born from the River returns to the source of the American gold story — the cold current where a glint in the gravel changed the trajectory of a nation. Light on water, gold in the silt, a frontier about to ignite.
In January 1848, gold was found in the tailrace of a sawmill on the American River, and within a year the world arrived. The metal that came out of those rivers — won by brutal, hopeful, frontier labor — flowed into the country’s gold coinage and into the Liberty designs that financed its rise. This piece honors the beginning: not the boomtowns or the fortunes, but the river and the work, the raw start of it. For the 250th year, the story is told from its headwaters.
Printed on brushed aluminum so the water and the gold both catch the light, rendered in cool current and warm strike. The mood is dawn and discovery — the quiet moment before the rush, when it was still just a man, a river, and a glint.
A MintMark fine-art tribute to America’s 250th anniversary. [Edition of __], individually numbered and documented. A limited release — once it closes, it is gone.
