Peace at Dawn is a premium Mintmark America 250 artwork honoring one of America’s most meaningful numismatic symbols: the Peace Dollar.

Set before the U.S. Peace Monument on the Capitol Grounds in Washington, D.C., this piece captures a quiet dawn moment of reflection. An older couple stands hand in hand before the monument, looking toward the Capitol as the sky opens in blue and gold. Above them, the obverse and reverse of the 1776–2026 Peace Dollar appear as luminous, ghostlike silver forms — not as objects placed into the scene, but as memories suspended in the atmosphere.

The U.S. Peace Monument, also known as the Navy-Peace Monument, was completed in 1878 and stands as a marble tribute to sacrifice, grief, history, victory, and peace. In this artwork, the monument becomes more than a landmark. It becomes a visual bridge between war and peace, memory and renewal, past and future.

The Peace Dollar itself was first introduced in 1921, designed by Anthony de Francisci, and created as a symbol of America’s hope for peace after World War I. Liberty appears on the obverse with a radiant crown, while the reverse depicts an eagle at rest above the word “PEACE.” For America’s 250th anniversary, the United States Mint’s 2026 Peace Silver Dollar Reverse Proof brings this historic design into the Semiquincentennial era with the dual date 1776–2026 and a special Liberty Bell “250” privy mark.

This Mintmark artwork was created to capture that rare intersection: the Peace Monument, the Peace Dollar, and America’s 250-year story. It is patriotic without being loud, collectible without feeling commercial, and emotional without losing dignity.

Available as a premium canvas or metal print, Peace at Dawn is designed for collectors, history lovers, and anyone who sees American coinage as more than metal — as memory, art, and legacy.

Artist Message

I wanted this piece to feel quiet.

The Peace Dollar has always carried a different emotional weight than many American coins. It was born from the aftermath of war, but it does not glorify conflict. It points toward hope, rebuilding, and the possibility of peace.

Placing the 1776–2026 Peace Dollar above the U.S. Peace Monument felt natural. Both symbols are about sacrifice and remembrance, but also about what comes after — continuity, national healing, and the responsibility of one generation to pass something meaningful to the next.

The older couple in the foreground is there because this piece is not just about Washington, D.C., or a coin design. It is about legacy. It is about standing together, looking back with gratitude, and looking forward with hope.

For America’s 250th anniversary, I wanted this artwork to feel like a pause — a dawn moment where history, peace, and memory all meet in the same light.
