The 1935-S Peace Dollar belongs to the final year of the original Peace Dollar series. Struck at the San Francisco Mint with a mintage of 1,964,000, it represents the closing chapter of a design that began in the aftermath of World War I and ended before the great changes that would reshape America in the decades ahead. The 1935-S is also known for notable reverse hub varieties, including the four-rays style below ONE, which appears only on the 1935-S issue.Final Light Over San Francisco presents the coin at sunset, overlooking the bay in warm reflective light. The composition is intentionally nostalgic: soft water, low city forms, ferry traffic, and a quiet sense of completion. The 1935-S is not shown as an ending in a harsh sense, but as a final glow — the last light on one of America’s most poetic silver dollar designs.

The Peace Dollar has always felt different from other American silver dollars. It is not only a coin of commerce; it is a coin of memory, aspiration, and national mood. For this series, I wanted each year to feel like a chapter rather than just a date.
The 1921 High Relief carries the optimism of a new beginning. The 1927-S feels elusive and coastal, shaped by San Francisco fog. The 1934 Philadelphia issue reflects a quieter, more resilient America during the Depression era. The 1935-S closes the original series with warmth, reflection, and a sense of final light.
Each composition was created to honor the coin first, but also to give it a place — a setting, an atmosphere, and a story worthy of display.
